This screen shows the menu for the Athabasca watershed. Note that visitors can quickly navigate to the other two watersheds (Columbia and North Saskatchewan) or switch to the French version.

After selecting a topic from a watershed, visitors can find out more detail about the landscape, ecology, economics, or history of the region or try an “Explore” which may be a game or an opportunity to see ‘what if’ scenarios ranging from ‘What if a particular mountain range didn’t exist’ to ‘What if the Columbia Icefield disappeared’.

Here is the topic area on grizzly bears. Users can find out more detail, view photos, or watch a video clip.

In this Explore, visitors are encouraged to select the items David Thompson will need to trek over the Athabasca Pass. Different outcomes result based on the choices. This one is a favourite with kids!

To complete this Explore, visitors need to find all the hidden animals in the forest. The owl on the left is the hardest one to find.
