Four actual cases of firefighter fatalities and injuries are detailed in the course. Perhaps the best known case is South Canyon, where 14 firefighters lost their lives, entrapped by fire.
In addition to highlighting key health and safety information, these cases really bring home the importance of the training. The last words of the course are “A number of firefighters have paid a price for much of the safety information you have just learned in this course - the price of their lives. Don't let it go to waste.”
